BOA advisor, Blejer: Albania is financially stable

A former governor of the Bank of Argentina is now working as an advisor at the Bank of Albania.

Mr. Mario Blejer has a history of successful international experience, as an advisor at the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the Bank of England.

In an exclusive interview for Ora news, gave assurance that the Bank of Albania is currently financially stable, but he says that we should be highly attentive to anything unexpected. He sayas that Albania is protected from the Greek crisis, and that the Albanian banks containing Greek capital are safe. Mr. Blejer

 

"During this period, Albania has made progress. Right now, the region is going through a difficult period of tension and financial crisis, but I think that Albania is one of the countries in Europe that is performing relatively well. The Bank of Albania has taken the necessary measures in order to not be affected by the Greek crisis. I have seen that the staff of the bank is capable and knowledgeable. Albania is experiencing good economic increase". - he said.

When asked about the economic expectations dropping from 3 to 2.7%, Blejer said:

"This happened because of the tensions in the region. Despite this drop in expectations, 2.7% is an increase that is higher than average in Europe. It is expected to be up to 4% by the end of next year".

Mr. Blejer did advise the bank of Albania to be prepared in any case, because we never know what may happen. Overall, he delivered a calming message, saying that the bank is functioning well and that the situation is being carefully monitored.
