Law On Restrictions Of President, Hysi: No Political Revenge Against Meta
The law on the President, which regulates constitutional powers, will consult with former heads of state before passing to a vote in parliament. For Rtv Ora, Vasilika Hysi, says that this initiative is not about Meta, but is a regulator for the institution.
After failing to dismiss him through the Commission of Inquiry, the majority has begun work on preparing a special law for the President.
In an interview for "RTV Ora", the socialist MP Vasilika Hysi says that this initiative has to do with the necessity of the rule of exercising the competencies of the Head of State.
Vasilika Hysi: ''We are not talking about changing the competencies of the constitution, but about a law which will regulate the exercise of these competencies, the relations of these institutions in order for the institutions in a state of law to function and be understood with each other."
The majority MP, member of the working group, denies accepting that this law is being made for political revenge against Ilir Meta.
Vasilika Hysi: "It is not correct as this is a draft law which has been in process, was withdrawn during the justice reform, as it was conceived as a law that regulated only privileges, but not a series of problems related to the body, and the function and the exercise of competencies.”
Although the Assembly has already started its work, Hysi underlines the fact that this law will be consulted with experts or Meta's predecessors in this task.
Vasilika Hysi: “The opinion of people who are constitutionalists, but also of people who know the institution of the president very well, why not former presidents, will be withdrawn. We will take all decisions of the Constitutional Court that have dealt directly or indirectly with issues of coordination of work between the institution of the president and other institutions."
Vasilika Hysi, Adnor Shameti and Alban Zeneli have been mandated by the Assembly to have the law on the Head of State ready by October 15.
