DP: The First Phase Closes, 946 Candidates Are Selected

The Democratic Party Candidate Evaluation Commission hascompleted the first phase of candidate verification, at the end of which it hasinvited 946 candidates out of 3648 candidates proposed by members to completethe Self-Declaration Form for figure and integrity.

"The selection process in the first phase has beencomplex and difficult, due to the high number of quality candidacies proposedby party members. Due to a limited number of candidates for each branch in thefirst phase, the need to maintain gender or youth representation quotas,according to the methodology approved in advance by the Commission, remainedunannounced at this stage a number of candidates who met the formal criteriaand enjoyed the necessary formal qualities for political representation of theDemocratic Party, ”reads the PD announcement.

Candidates who have not been notified to complete theSelf-Declaration Form have been included in the list of candidates whoseapproval has been postponed and their details have been forwarded to theDemocratic Party Human Resources Secretariat for inclusion in the Democratic Partygoverning resource database.

According to the decision of the Presidency of theDemocratic Party, the list of candidates to be postponed for approvalconstitutes a certified list of human resources of the Democratic Party, whichwill be used to represent the Party at political executive levels, in statepositions as political functionaries or civil servants of management level, oras a representative in local councils.

The second phase of verification, which is related tothe figure and integrity, will be subject to the candidates who will fill inthe Self-Declaration Form, divided into regions as follows:

  1. Kukës Region 24 candidates were selected in the first phase, of which 6 are women and 4 young people under the age of 35.
  2. Dibër Region, 26 candidates were selected in the first phase, of which 8 are women and 6 young people under the age of 35.
  3. Berat region, 36 candidates were selected in the first phase, of which 10 are women and 7 young people under the age of 35.
  4. Gjirokastra Region, 37 candidates were selected in the first phase, of which 12 are women and 2 young people under the age of 35.
  5. Lezha Region, 56 candidates were selected in the first phase, of which 15 are women and 14 young people under the age of 35.
  6. Korça Region, 66 candidates were selected in the first phase, of which 17 are women and 15 young people under the age of 35.
  7. Shkodra Region, 67 candidates were selected in the first phase, of which 21 are women and 16 young people under the age of 35.
  8. Vlora Region, 79 candidates were selected in the first phase, of which 23 women and 18 young people under the age of 35.
  9. Durrës Region, 94 candidates were selected in the first phase, of which 19 are women and 28 young people under the age of 35.
  10. Fier Region, 101 candidates were selected in the first phase, of which 23 are women and 30 young people under the age of 35.
  11. Elbasan Region, 112 candidates were selected in the first phase, of which 33 are women and 23 young people under the age of 35.
  12. Tirana Region, 248 candidates have been selected in the first phase, of which 67 are women and 55 young people under the age of 35.

At the end of the second phase, there will be a furtherreduction in the number of candidates, towards a pre-determined number of candidateswho will be sent for consultation to the Democratic Party membership.
