Government Failed, DP: No School Damaged By The Earthquake Has Been Rebuilt
The Democratic Party today accused the government offailing to rebuild schools destroyed by the earthquake.
Former MP, Gent Strazimiri, from Durrës said that it waspromised that in November all schools will be completed, but nothing is readyfor the start of the new school year.
Gent Strazimiri: We are in front of the ruins of the school "Qemal Mici" in the 16th district of the city of Durres. We are here to denounce the fact that just a few days before the start of the teaching process, the school is still in its infancy.
In the table explaining the project, according to the government promise the school should be finished within 147 days. There is no chance that it will end within the deadline to start the school year and there is no chance that it will also end in November as the Prime Minister said.
But this is not the news.
The deceptions of this government, the promises of Edi Rama which are not kept or which are simply passed to make a TV show, are no longer making news in this country.
The news is already the health of the children of Durrës, because this is not the only school. There are 27 schools in the city most affected by last year's earthquake, which today remain virtually without teaching process. Even as the learning process begins, it is not clear how they can be regulated and protected from the COVID pandemic, and how anti-Covid measures will be applied.
With a plan from the Ministry of Education, chaotic and practically unachievable even in normal conditions, even if these 27 schools were still standing and already reconstructed, in these conditions in which we are, where the schools are completely ruined and the rest of the half-destroyed schools will have to be afforded by all the children of Durrës, and theoretically the so-called anticovid protection measures, drawn up in the chaotic plan of the Ministry of Education, are completely unfeasible.
13 thousand children from schools and kindergartens who will have to start the teaching process on September 14 and go to the already destroyed public institutions.
The fact that the price is several times higher than any one could build a school is not discussed, the fact of delay is no longer discussed, the fact of corruption within the project with EU money is no longer discussed, the issue returns to children's health.
Who protects the children of Durrës in these conditions, in this government irresponsibility, with this prime ministerial irresponsibility, with this chaos that the Ministry of Education has aroused with Anti-Covid measures.
The children of Durrës, 13 thousand of them, are in the conditions that should be systematized with physical distancing, with disinfection and with any other measure that should theoretically be taken to the Albanian school, they are forced to enter all those half-collapsed schools that still remain.
