"We Will Bring Back European Investors", Basha Talks With Commissioner Hahn: We Will Set Up The National Anti-Corruption Agency
Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha had an online conversation with EU Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Hahn.
At the center of the discussions was the fight against corruption, where the leader of the Democrats Basha showed the EU official part of the program of the Democratic Party.
One of them, said Basha, is the establishment of the National Agency against Corruption, independent of the government.
Basha: First, I want to emphasize the need to move forward as soon as we can with the recovery of the terrible damage that the earthquake caused in Albania. And in this regard, I am very grateful for the way you have acted in mobilizing member countries and making their assistance available to my country.
We are aware that as recent reports by both the EU and the US have pointed out, there is a very high level of concern about corruption. And we have addressed this as an issue of vital importance for the development of the country. One of the first steps we are taking is the creation of the National Anti-Corruption Agency which will have independence from the executive and whose role will be to address corruption problems at all levels.
Rule of law, competition, fight against corruption are our priorities and through these priorities we will make it possible for European investors to return to Albania, to bring their investments here.
Basha's plan received full support from European Commissioner for Budget Hahn, who said that such a practice has led to a very low rate of youth unemployment in the countries where it is applied.
Hahn: In your focus on dual vocational training, it is something I can fully support with all the experience I have from my country, but also Germany, Switzerland, Austria where we have a lot of experience with these dual vocational training schemes for many years. This is why in many countries the youth unemployment rate is quite low, because young people have the opportunity to work even during their education.
