Action For The Protection Of Vjosa In Tirana, Berlin, Paris And Brussels

Activists have once again mobilized in a broad campaign to declare the Vjosa River National Park and all its tributaries.

The action today was held in parallel in four European capitals, Tirana, Brussels, Paris and Berlin.

A large banner was placed in "Skënderbej" square with the message: "Vjosa National Park, now!"

"This is one of the next initiatives, an awareness message that focuses on the proclamation of the Vjosa River National Park and its tributaries. It is an action that is being undertaken simultaneously in four European cities, in Berlin, Brussels, Paris and Tirana. Images of these messages will be sent to the European Parliament on March 22, which is also International Water Day. We thank the President for his continued support."

The President himself, who has strongly supported this cause, underlined once again that the Vjosa is an asset not only for Albania but for the entire European continent.

Meta: It is an obligation for me as President to be in firm support of civil society, environmental protection organizations and all the heritage and natural wealth of our country but at the same time to be in full tune with 36 European and world organizations which have joined this initiative for the protection of the Vjosa River and seeking the proclamation of the Vjosa River National Park and all tributaries of this river.

It is a treasure not only national but a rare treasure for our continent that must be protected from any project that affects it and has been damaged quite a bit so far. We are still in time to prevent any further damage that would be irreparable.
