Meta Decrees 5 Laws, Part Of The Package Of The June 5 Agreement. Among Them Are Changes In The Criminal Code
The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta has decreed today with the announcement, five laws approved by the Albanian Parliament, on December 17, 2020, which were identified as necessary to be realized between the political forces, in the agreement reached with the agreement of 5 June 2020, and related to the conduct of electoral processes.
Specifically, President Meta has decreed with announcements
- Law no. 146/2020 “On some additions and changes to law no. 7895, dated 27.1.1995, ‘Criminal Code of the Republic of Albania’, as amended ”;
- Law no. 147/2020 “For an addition and some changes in law no. 7905, dated 21.03.1995, ‘Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Albania’, amended ”;
- Law no. 148/2020 “On some additions to law no. 97/2016, ‘On the organization and functioning of the prosecution in the Republic of Albania’ ”;
- Law no. 149/2020 “For an addition to law no. 96/2016 ‘On the status of judges and prosecutors in the Republic of Albania’, as amended ”;
- Law no. 150/2020 “On some additions to law no. 60/2016, ‘On signaling and protection of whistleblowers’ ”.
According to what the presidency announces, the head of state, with the decree and entry into force of these laws, requests from the bodies designated by law, the Central Election Commission, Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution (SPAK), General Prosecutor's Office, HIDAACI and any other body , which has legal competencies under these changes, to take all necessary measures and increase cooperation between them, in order to draft the necessary bylaws and the objective implementation of these changes.
According to the President of the Republic, any negative phenomenon that endangers or slightly violates the freedom of the vote, or aims to distort the will of the sovereign, should be severely punished, in order to preserve the legitimacy of the electoral process, until the final certification of results.
