Rama: Albania Provided The First 500 Thousand Vaccines, The First 10 Thousand Doses In The Third Week Of January
Albania has secured the anticovid vaccine through a direct agreement with the manufacturing company Pfizer.
Prime Minister Edi Rama has chosen the first day of 2021 to inform Albanians that vaccination will begin in January at the National Stadium "Air Albania".
"Albania has provided the first 500 thousand doses of the vaccine from the company Pfizer. My shopping in New York has ended successfully. We agree with the normative act of signing the contract, according to the agreement officially approved by the company Pfizer. The agreed quantity will be paid immediately based on the terms and standard procedure of the company with all countries without exception.
The first 10,750 of this contract will arrive in Albania at the beginning of the third week of January. Another 30,250 doses will arrive in Albania in February and others month after month according to the vaccination plan. This is the best possible start to this crucial year of repelling this invisible enemy," Rama said.
The white shirts of the Covid hospital in Prishtina will be vaccinated at the same time as the doctors in Tirana as the Albanian government has decided not to leave Kosovo behind.
Rama added that negotiations for other doses of the vaccine continue with other friendly countries, without giving their names.
"I inform you that in recent days we have guaranteed the readiness of the two partner countries for a total of 9 thousand doses in the first half of January. I can not mention the names because today the new dynamics created by the official agreement with Pfizer, will affect or not the finalization of these solidarity operations by the two friendly governments, which did not leave us alone in these times of selfishness and terrible cynicism about the continent where we live, where the green light that was lit last night was still not visible.
Simultaneously with two other states we are negotiating a quantity of vaccines from Pfizer and Astazeneca. I believe that very soon we will have clarity on the outcome of these negotiations. I am very grateful for these two countries because neither of them enters the richest countries in Europe, but they have had the generosity to take our prayers seriously."
Edi Rama continues to call the EU's attitude towards the countries of the Western Balkans for providing the vaccine unacceptable.
There was also irony for all the critics in Tirana who, according to Rama, prejudiced his visit to New York.
"My shopping in New York has ended successfully. We agree with the normative act of signing the contract, according to the agreement officially approved by the company Pfizer. "
