The OSCE Presence Trains Albanian Police In Drug Investigations
From 22 to 25 September 2020, the OSCE Presence inAlbania organized a drug investigation course for 15 police officers from theanti-drug structures of the State Police.
The course aimed to increase the capacity of the StatePolice in eliminating organized criminal groups specializing in drugtrafficking, as well as increasing their knowledge about new ways of operatingcriminal chains.
International experts from the Center for LawEnforcement in Southeast Europe (SELEC), the US Drug Enforcement Administration(DEA) and the National Crime Agency in the United Kingdom (NCA) engagedparticipants in fictional and real-world investigation scenarios. organizedcrime dealing with drug trafficking. ”
The training was part of a larger project by the OSCEPresence in support of the Albanian police to improve regional co-operation andcombat serious and organized crime.
Overthe past years, the Presence has devoted about three-quarters of its activitieswith the police to tackling the threats posed by criminal activity, as well asfacilitating the participation of State Police officers in internationalconferences and trainings to strengthen their professional capacities in theinvestigation of drug cases.
ThePresence also contributed to the national action plan against cannabiscultivation and trafficking 2017-2020.
