Zingraf Meets Vitore Tusha: KED, Important Role In Fulfilling The Constitutional Court And The Supreme Court

German Ambassador to Tirana, Peter Zingraf held ameeting today with the current President of the Constitutional Court and theJudicial Appointments Council (KED), Vitore Tusha.
The German diplomat underlined that a functioningConstitutional Court is of central importance for democracy and the trust ofAlbanians in their institutions.
In this regard, he added, the KED plays an importantrole in filling vacancies in the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court.
"I am grateful for Ms. Tusha's explanations regarding the work of KED during the summer, since taking office and for further steps.
Mrs. Tusha drew attention to the importance of the opinion of the Venice Commission for filling vacancies in the Constitutional Court. I hope that with the filling of other places, the functionality of the Constitutional Court will be restored as soon as possible.
This is an important criterion for the issue of when the intergovernmental conference on EU accession negotiations will take place," Zingraf said after the meeting.
TheGerman Ambassador stressed that Germany will continue to support Albania in thefield of justice reform.
