Alibeaj: Dirty Money Is Stifling Honest Business And The Middle Class

The Democratic Party says that Edi Rama's politicalproject to co-govern with organized crime has turned Albania into a moneylaundering paradise from drug trafficking and corruption at every level ofgovernment.

In a press release from the blue headquarters, former MPEnkelejd Alibeaj said that the image of Albania is that of a country where themoney of criminal activity can be easily invested and laundered.

According to him, this is not a conclusion of theDemocratic Party, but it is a constant finding of the US State Department.

Alibeaj: For 4 years in a row, official reports from Washington describe Albania as a "main place for money laundering", due to corruption, the rise of organized crime networks and poor law enforcement by the government.

The same concern has been raised by the specialized structures of the Council of Europe and, recently, by foreign organizations that estimate that in Tirana, in the last 3 years alone, about 1.6 billion euros have been laundered in the construction sector.

What is the reaction of the outgoing government of Edi Rama? Is the government combating the phenomenon of money laundering, which directly affects the downfall of honest business, or which devalues the savings of the middle class at artificial stratospheric prices?

Alibeaj emphasizes that Albanians have proven in theirown skin that the outgoing Prime Minister not only does not plan to fightorganized crime and corruption, but has multiplied the main activity of moneylaundering, the issuance of construction permits throughout the country, especially in the capital and on the coast.

Alibeaj: A series of large constructions in Tirana; coastal resort projects, on stolen public and private assets; a good part of the concessions are being backed up with dirty money and are mechanisms for recycling money from drugs and corruption. Instead of fighting money laundering, the outgoing government of Edi Rama tried to make a fiscal amnesty for money laundering dirty tracks of crime and government corruption.

He guaranteed that with the Democratic Party at the headof the government of the country there will be no fiscal amnesty for crime andmoney laundering of corrupt government.

Alibeaj: Our plan "Follow the money" will be a strong instrument for the rule of law, work and honesty in Albania, so that the money of crime and government corruption does not suffocate the economy of Albanian families.
