DP Denounces: The Municipality Of Tirana Replaced The Cash Fund For Babies With The Useless Basket
The Municipal Council of Tirana months ago decided toremove the direct payment of 50 thousand ALL for the babies of Tirana, replacingit with a basket of products.
Following this decision, the Democratic Party denouncesan abuse where, according to spokeswoman Ina Zhupa, the basket is not onlyuseless but worth less than cash payments.
"From today in this maternity hospital and in the other maternity hospital they will no longer benefit from the bonus of babies of 50 thousand old lek which was granted since 2007 by the Municipality of Tirana, but with the decision of the Municipal Council, they will receive a basket of products issued by the Municipality of Tirana for the babies of Tirana.
The cash payment that went to the mothers of Tirana will not go to them anymore. The first problem of this basket is that with the announcement of the tender and the winner of the tender, it has been decided that with an amount of 363 million ALL, 9 thousand baskets will be bought, for 9 thousand babies of Tirana. "
With a simple account, if we compare the value of thetender with the value of the baskets, it falls to each basket to have 40thousand old lek goods inside, to give to the babies of Tirana.
While the bonus was 50 thousand lek, with products as ifwe take them for granted in that value, they will receive 40 thousand lek, 10thousand old lek removed that come to life in the public maternity hospital ofTirana.
The DP also wants to consider the possibility of thisfund increasing cash for Tirana mothers and not giving them a basket ofproducts that may be useless in many cases, but moreover that are not in thevalue that was the baby bonus, so they are minus 10 thousand old lekë for everybaby in Tirana.
Meanwhile in anotherouting, the Democratic Party accused the government that in the areas affectedby the earthquake the damaged schools are not ready, and as a result do notmeet any anti-covetous measures. Former MPs Gent Starzimiri and Albana Vokshiwere in the administrative unit of Durrës.
Democrat representativesalso discussed with residents, while many parents stated that online learningfor them was formal because in the conditions created by the earthquake, children found it impossible to follow the process.
