The Conference Of Mayors Decides To Set Up A Commission That Will Elect The New CEC

The next parliamentary elections will dominate theagenda of the parliament which is expected to start today at 17:00. In this newlegislative session, the new CEC will be formed and if an agreement is foundbetween the SP and the DP in the Political Council, the opening of the listsand the pre-election coalitions will be implemented in the Electoral Code. Thepackage with 7 laws amended due to the June 5 agreement will have to get thegreen cards of the deputies in the Parliament.

The political September has started abruptly, as theParliament opens its doors today for an important legislative session.

At 10:00 in the morning, the Conference of Presidentswas convened online.

At the meeting it was decided to set up a Commissionthat will elect the new CEC.

The Assembly has the obligation to set up a special parliamentary commission, with proportional representation from each parliamentary group, to review and select the candidacies submitted for the position of Commissioner, members of the Regulator and the KAS.

I would like to inform you that your proposal for a member in the special commission must be submitted to the Assembly within 09.09.2020 "it is said in the letter of the Speaker of the Assembly, Gramoz Ruçi, addressed to the leaders of the parliamentary groups where he asks them to send the names of the members.”

Pursuant to the transitional provisions, theextra-parliamentary opposition will send a special envoy, who will elect the membersbelonging to PD-LSI to the CEC.

The opposition has a deputy commissioner, 2 members ofthe Regulatory Commission and 2 members of the Complaints Commission.
