Conflict In Ukraine/ Rama Calls Zelensky, Invites Him To Albania
Prime Minister Edi Rama, in the framework of thechairmanship of the OSCE presidency, held a telephone conversation with thePresident of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy to find a solution to the crisis inthe eastern state.
The President thanked the Albanian Presidency of theOSCE for giving priority to the issue of restoring Ukraine's sovereignty andterritorial integrity within the work of the Organization, according to astatement on the official website of the Ukrainian presidency.
The interlocutors discussed the security situation inDonbas and important aspects of the negotiation process.
The president drew attention to violations of agreementsby illegal armed groups, including the bombing of Ukrainian positions on September6th and 10th.
"Yesterday, during my telephone conversation with Chancellor Angela Merkel, the militants opened fire on Ukrainian positions near the village of Shumy, in the area where the JCCC and OSCE meeting would take place. We do not want a new escalation. On September 6, as a result of provocation by illegal armed groups, we lost a member of the Armed Forces who was killed and one was wounded," the Ukrainian presidency quoted Zelensky.
For his part, Rama supported the efforts of the Ukrainianparty to achieve peace in the region and assured the readiness of the AlbanianPresidency to contribute to the restoration of peace. He noted that the stepstaken by the Ukrainian President and the Ukrainian people towards peace arevery courageous. He also stressed that he regrets the lack of mutual movementof the opposite side in this regard. The Prime Minister of Albania noted thatthe OSCE is an impartial, but not indifferent organization.
In this context, the interlocutors stressed the importanceof ensuring the full and unhindered entry of the OSCE Special MonitoringMission throughout the uncontrolled territory.
At the end of the conversation, Prime Minister Ramainvited the President of Ukraine to visit Albania.
