The June 5 Pact Passes Without Opposition Votes
The Law Commission approved today with 10 votes in favor and 5 against the draft amendments to the Electoral Code.
The draft was approved only by a majority vote; Ulsi Manja, Klotilda Bushka, Fatmir Xhafaj, Vasilika Hysi, Adnor Shameti, Bashkim Fino, Damian Gjiknuri, Edmond Leka, Alket Hyseni and Edlira Bode.
Extra-parliamentary opposition MPs Korab Lita, Alban Zeneli, Andi Përmeti, Edlira Braha and Mara voted against the pact.
Damian Gjiknuri also stopped at the open lists when he said that they can bring tensions and problems, but added that we should not be afraid of this.
Gjiknuri: Opening the lists can bring tensions and problems, as I said, we should not be afraid of that. We have also doubled the fund received by the parties in the elections and by setting the ceiling no more than three times from private donations, the ratio 1/3. As for the advertisements, there was a request to ban them at all, but no consensus was found, neither the DP nor the other parties were in favor of the ban and it was decided to keep the provisions that remain.
The approval of the June 5 agreement is expected to be approved at the last session of the July parliamentary session.
