Albania Provides 100 Thousand Fast Tests For Covid, Starting From Monday With Tirana

The government has provided 100,000 rapid tests for coronavirus.

The tests will start on Monday with the capital, where the main hearth of Covid 19 is.

The rapid test will be combined with that classic, PCR.

"We have provided in the first contract 100 thousand fast antigen tests recognized by the WHO. They are ready to be put into operation. Rapid testing will start on Monday, initially in Tirana, in infected hearths that will be evaluated by the IPH and that are key to the transmission of infection. In the first phase from Monday the test will be in all local health care units, are the structures that perform the classic test.  

From December 20, the rapid testing will be extended to the test points in some polyclinics and health centers in Tirana and then according to a calendar will be extended to several structures throughout the country. Planning will be done according to the electronic system schedules. The test points will become known in the coming days and will cover a certain number of residents according to a geographical division already made.

From December 20, rapid tests will be made available to regional hospitals for emergencies in addition to PCR testing. The necessary time until December 20 is set to be left in function of the trainings of all our staffs" said Manastirliu, adding that they are in procedures to provide another 300 thousand tests.

"December will not be an easy month" said the Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu in communication with the public about the measures taken to cope with the epidemic in the country.

The Minister expressed the commitment that the vaccine against Covid will be provided in time and will be free for the citizens.

On the other hand, Manastirliu highlighted the support for white shirts in the first line of fire with the virus.

"A fund of 8 million euros to date is dedicated to the special support of our medical staff in the first line of fire with Covid."
