"Venice Opened A Big Door", Alibeaj: Evidenced The Attempt Of The Socialist Party To Win Seats At The Table

The Democratic Party says that the interim opinion of the Venice Commission highlights the fact that the Socialist Party rushed to unilaterally amend the Constitution on electoral account. Former MP Enkelejd Alibeaj says Venice opened a big door acknowledging the changes constitute a constitutional violation.

The Venice Commission submitted to the political parties on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, the preliminary opinion on the unilateral changes of the Constitution and the Electoral Code by the Socialist Party, while suggesting that there should be no changes before the April 25 elections.

But despite this, the former Democratic MP Enkelejd Alibeaj, says that Venice has opened a big door to provide solutions, while according to him the government's haste to make unconsulted changes only for electoral purposes is evident.

Alibeaj: It is true that he said that maybe the effect is not so great due to the abolition of coalitions, but it is such that it can change as many mandates as necessary to determine the Prime Minister tomorrow.

What is seen with interest in the opposition camp is the fact that Venice directs the parties towards the Constitutional Court.

Alibeaj: In such a situation where Venice says to determine the constitutionality of constitutional changes or even electoral changes we must go to the Constitutional Court that should be set up an hour ago shows that we have a major problem in the legal bed.

Alibeaj says Venice invites the parties to a sincere dialogue to make unilateral changes effective.

Alibeaj: Venice can do this, it invites the political parties which in a sincere constructive dialogue make it effective as much as possible these unilateral changes.

But what will be the electoral tactics that the opposition will use for April 25?

Alibeaj: There is no possibility when the political field is structured between the oligarchic regime and a whole society that goes beyond the dimensions of political parties so that there may be finals different from what we said before, the regime will collapse, will collapse.
