A wish for Albania's Independence Day also came from the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo.
He congratulated all Albanians on this important day through a message.
Pompeo emphasizes that this year the EU decision is celebrated and the negotiations with Albania are open, while he also congratulated the leadership of the OSCE by our country.
Pompeo: As Albania celebrates its Independence Day, I send you congratulations on behalf of the United States Government and the American people. This year, we also celebrate the decision of the European Union to open membership negotiations for Albania, a sign of the significant progress that Albania has made in implementing the necessary reforms for EU membership.
We commend Albania for its leadership as chair of the OSCE 2020 and appreciate all that it has done to demonstrate its commitment to the Transatlantic community. Albania plays a central role in helping to ensure peace and stability as part of the NATO Alliance, and the United States stands by Albania as an unwavering ally. I wish well-being and health to the Albanian people as we work together to overcome the challenges faced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
