Kim Letter To Party Leaders: Take Responsibility, Vetting Should Be Done For Each Candidate
US Ambassador Yuri Kim has sent a letter to partyleaders urging them to take responsibility for parliamentary candidates in theupcoming political elections.
She says all parties should do vetting for theircandidates, and that those to be elected should not be subject todecriminalization law.
In the letter, Kim writesthat the US supports the desire of Albanians for better leaders andrepresentatives.
"Take responsibility for the candidates. Candidates for deputies to have moral integrity, not to be subject to the decriminalization law. We encourage political parties to conduct vetting for each of their candidates."
Mayors play a key role in keeping out of the lists of corrupt people. "The United States is committed to the fight against corruption," the letter said.
Meanwhile, on Friday, thepresident invited party leaders to consultations on the date of the nextparliamentary elections.
