"Let's Set The Date Of The Elections", Meta Invites Rama And Basha To The Presidency
A few days after the entry into force of theconstitutional amendments and the Electoral Code, President Ilir Meta hasstarted the procedures for setting the date of the parliamentary elections.
On Friday, September 4, the parties will give theiropinion on the most acceptable date for the elections. The head of state in theinvitation took care to specify that in case the party leaders find itimpossible to attend they will be represented by an authorized person.
The first in the headquarters of the presidency is askedto be the chairman of the Socialist Party Edi Rama.
Just an hour after the conversation with the majority,Meta has invited to meetings and the opposition. At 12:00 in the presidency wasinvited to participate Lulzim Basha or persons authorized by him.
According to the new changes, the elections take placein the period April 15 - May 15, so as not to affect the tourist season. Butanother period remains and October 15 to November 15.
So far it seems that theparties have agreed that the voting will be held in the period April - May.According to the electoral code, the date of the elections must be announced 9months before the end of the mandate of the current assembly.
Meanwhile, the USambassador, through a letter sent to the main parties, asks the politicalforces to veto the candidates who must have moral integrity. According to her,party leaders are responsible for the selection.
