Anticovid Vaccine, Rama: We Have Provided 1.6 Million Doses, 83 Thousand Rapid Tests Have Been Done

Prime Minister Edi Rama announced at the press conference that the number of rapid tests has reached up to 83 thousand so far.

Rama went on to clarify that Albania has managed to provide 1.6 million doses of anticovid vaccine for 800 thousand citizens, while adding that negotiations are ongoing with companies and other countries for more doses.

Rama: Laboratory capacities have increased fourfold and the number of tests has increased 10-fold compared to June. Rapid tests have come into use and are offered in 58 testing centers in the community, where 83 thousand tests have been performed.

The number of epidemiologists has increased by 30%, guaranteeing that 90% of suspects will be seen and isolated within 48 hours.

This is a difficult, challenging process, a process where either we are together and each does his or her job and comes out white-faced, or we are ashamed together due to a break in the chain of stability.

In 2013 there were 0 flu vaccines, while we have provided free flu vaccine for 350 thousand citizens, 4 times more than in 2019, for all vulnerable categories.

On the other hand we have provided the vaccine in unfavorable conditions for our country and we have started the vaccination campaign, facing like all with a delay due to the global demand for Pfizer, however we have provided 1.6 million doses for 800 thousand citizens through the contract with Pfizer and Covax.

We are in negotiations with other vaccine companies and with other countries.
