Underground Workers Seek Miner Status
A representative of the underground workers filed today in the Assembly a petition with over 10 thousand companies through which they seek the status of miner.
According to them, their demands are vital and extremely possible from the government.
"Our demands are very basic and possible. They are the safety at work of the miner, who are being killed at work and the victim is taking the blame. A request that should not be discussed at all. Their families to enjoy a pension if the miner loses his life in the gallery and a compensation of 6 million new lek.
The state has not given any status to the miners, it has simply prevented them with a supplementary law according to which the miners retire at the age of 55. The miner with 30 years in the gallery and 12 and a half years underground as required by law, retires partially. Only 65 years old enjoy full pension. We demand that 53-55 year olds retire fully. We have collected over 10 thousand companies ".
