Rama Wants The Third Mandate To Enable Free Health Care: It Is Not Like A Tax, Say It Today And Remove It Tomorrow

The Prime Minister, Edi Rama, used the plenary session to discuss the draft budget for 2021 to respond to the opposition's accusations of free health care.

Rama acknowledged that the objective has not been achieved and this is one of the reasons, according to him, why Albanians will have to entrust a third mandate to the SP.

Rama: We do what we say and say what we do. We do not talk in the air to catch what to catch, one vote here and one vote there. We are talking about a vision that we implement with facts. And this budget is a fact, it is not a wish program.

We have not done everything we said but that does not mean we will not do it. They tell me you said free health care, where is it? Free healthcare is not like tax breaks, we say it today and we remove it tomorrow. Free health care is a big vision and project, steps have been taken towards free health care all this time.

You know how many Albanians who until yesterday were nowhere to be found today are reimbursed for their medicines, 600 thousand Albanians who have not been able to get health insurance for years are reimbursed like the others.

Reimbursement capacity has gone 110 million dollars a year, today the Albanian government pays for Albanian medicines. 10% you taxed a grain of aspirin. It no longer exists. You know how many free packages there are in the health service today from eye packages, surgeries and special treatments, go and see how many there are.

The budget is inside and another fact, fuel for agriculture will no longer have any fiscal burden. We will turn all the fiscal burden that the fuel has today into fuel and not a refund. This will cause the price to fall for them.

Another fact is that beyond the increase in salaries for white shirts, this budget is the biggest financial commitment of a government in 30 years for the health system.
