Online Universities/ Zhupa: Big Cost. Students Have Paid For Apartments And Dormitories

Just a few days before the start of the new academic year, the Technical Committee of Experts on the pandemic has decided to propose the closure of universities for 1 month.

In a press release, the Chairwoman of this Committee, Mira Rakacolli announced that teaching in universities should only take place online.

"We have unanimously decided to propose that universities conduct only online teaching, ie distance learning only without physical presence, at least for the first month of opening, assessing the situation in a dynamic way. The halls and dormitories will be closed until a second decision", said Rakacolli.

Meanwhile, the reaction of the DP spokeswoman, Ina Zhupa, was also present.

According to her, this is a failure to manage the situation, while she adds that such a decision will burden the pockets of Albanian families.

Ina Zhupa: Failure to manage the situation of opening universities. Big cost for families and no help from the state.

The announcement 3 days in advance of the non-opening of universities shows once again the chaos and lack of responsibility of this government.

Students have rented houses to live in Tirana or paid dormitory fees to live in Tirana. While last academic year they paid for the dormitories and could not use them and their money was not returned by the state.

As during this whole pandemic period, every cost of government decision-making falls on the citizens, in this case the parents of students who have sacrificed large sums of money to study their children in auditoriums and it is not known if they will serve you anymore.

Online education puts Albanian families facing other costs, making them pay double already! Internet payment, payment for a laptop or pc device that is an indispensable tool to develop an enjoyable participation in online learning. They will also pay full tuition fees at universities.

Meanwhile the government has no support plan for students and their families. As there is no plan to deal with the pandemic.
