There Is No Lawsuit For The Violent Police During The Protests
The accusations of civil society but also of international institutions such as the Council of Europe and the OSCE for the violence against journalists and the arrest of minors during the protests in Tirana have remained unanswered.
The murder of 25-year-old Klodian Rasha brought protests and clashes between citizens and police. The latter, while accompanying protesting and non-protesting citizens, exceeded their competencies by using violence. Law enforcement authorities have not yet launched an investigation into uniformed and civilian police officers who committed violent acts in protest.
Officially, the state police, the SHCBA and the ombudsman do not comment on the launch of the investigation, which was stopped at the stage of field verifications carried out by the ombudsman institution.
The latter in the inspections carried out focused on the issue of juveniles who were accompanied by the police, the overcrowding of police stations but not the violence exercised by the staff.
After each protest, the State Police, in addition to arresting the protesters, have launched investigations into police officers, but this time the institutions are silent.
After the mass protests held by the united opposition, the blues have given disciplinary measures, reprimands, or even warnings for dismissal of the effectives who have exceeded their powers during the demonstrations.
During the December 5 protests, the effectives carried out violent actions against minors, protesters and non-protesters or media employees who were part of the demonstrations to follow the developments in real time.
Investigations have started only by the Tirana prosecutor's office, after the denunciations made by the journalists for the violence exercised against them by civilian police officers engaged during the protests.
