Shkodra Hosts The Two Albanian Governments On Friday, Kosovo Interested In The

The governments of Albania and Kosovo have completed the drafting of agreements that will be signed during the meeting of the two cabinets this Friday in Shkodra. Kosovo is waiting with interest for the opening of its customs point in the Port of Durrës.

The two governments, that of Albania and that of Kosovo, will meet in Shkodra this Friday. The news was announced on Monday at a meeting of the Kosovo government, where Deputy Prime Minister Albulena Balaj-Halimaj, who is also the coordinator for this meeting, said that most of the draft agreements between the two countries have been completed.

"I ask for understanding from our ministers if any draft agreement will not pass for an agreement there. Due to the legal procedures that the Albanian side has. But I believe that so far most of them have been completed, but a finalization will take place tomorrow," she said.

Over the years, the governments of Albania and Kosovo have signed several bilateral cooperation agreements, but most of them have remained only on paper or are unenforceable.

With interest Kosovo expects the opening of its customs point in the Port of Durres or the railway connection with Albania. A feasibility study is expected for the latter with the support of the US government, which was included in the agreement on economic normalization between Kosovo and Serbia that was signed on September 4 at the White House.

Kosovo also wants to use one of Albania's hydropower plants for its needs and increase energy independence.
