President Ilir Meta awaited in a meeting the new Ambassador of the OSCE Presence in Albania, Vincenzo Del Monaco.
Through a post on social networks, the head of state says that, during the meeting, the importance of the OSCE for Albania was assessed, the first international organization that we joined after the fall of communism.
“I had the pleasure to receive in a meeting the new Chairman of the OSCE Presence, Ambassador Vincenzo Del Monaco and to wish him success on the occasion of the beginning of his mandate in Albania.
I appreciated the importance of the OSCE for Albania, as the first multilateral organization to which we joined after the fall of communism, as well as its contribution over the years towards strengthening democracy and the rule of law in our country.
I stressed that the OSCE Presence should play a more important role in supporting strategic reforms in the framework of the launch of membership negotiations in the European Union, especially in the field of elections, democracy, rule of law, strengthening of independent institutions, respect for human rights and the fight against crime and corruption”, writes Meta in his post.
