Teacher’s day, commemoration of the 1st school

Today, the establishment of the first Albanian school was commemorated in all schools around the country. In Tirana, teachers were surrounded by students handing them flowers and gifts.

At the Partizani High School, March 7th was celebrated through an activity where Albanian tradition was combined with modernity. The purpose of the activity was to strengthen the role of the school as a community center.

Many politicians also praised teachers.

President Ilir Meta, through a photo on social media, wrote:

“Happy March 7th, -- Teacher's Day! Honor, respect and gratitude for your brilliant work and success in the noble mission of delivering knowledge, and civic and patriotic values.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Edi Rama congratulated teachers through a post on Facebook, while Minister Besa Shahini stated that she appreciates the sacrifice of each teacher.

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, together with the students of "Ismail Qemali" and "Asim Vokshi" High School choose to celebrate Teacher's Day by planting trees in their honor. Mayor Veliaj, praised the initiative and the dedication that the youth have shown for the city. Stating:

"The municipality completely reconstructed 'Ismail Qemali' High School, and now that the municipality needs to plant trees, its students, teachers and parents contribute in that respect. I am so grateful to all of you,"

The beautiful initiative, in which student’s plant trees for their teachers and mothers, will turn into a tradition, according to Veliaj.

The Albanian School was opened on March 7, 1887 and is commemorated annually in appreciation for the contribution of teachers and educators throughout many generations.
