Tariff suspended, Rama: Apologies to Kuksians

The implementation of the National Highway tariff will only recommence once a solutions has been found for the residents of the area.

Prime Minister Edi Rama declared from the Parliament that they are already in negotiations with the company and foreign experts have been involved in this process.

"We are responsible for the dissatisfaction over the National Hwy tariff. We will not start the payment system without providing the best possible solution for residents of that area.

"It is a difficult process and as such we have also involved foreign experts. I publicly apologize to the residents of the area. This is our first experience implemented such a tariff and we were unprepared," said Edi Rama.

As for the leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, the prime minister's statement is just about winning time. Speaking from Vora, Basha said that the only solution is removing this tariff for the area residents.

"He has neither withdrawn nor said he will withdraw. Rama said he would suspend it until a decision can be made for the residents of Kukës.

"That is not the solution. We request the removal and prohibition of the tax on the National Highway. Edi Rama should not be trusted with anything he says because he is a proven manipulator and deceiver," said Lulzim Basha.

From Elbasan, SMI Chair, Monika Kryemadhi called the Prime Minister a coward while urging him to release the Kuksians.

"This is Edi Rama's next show, we are used seeing him cry from time to time. He says such things whenever he is in trouble, but the first thing that Edi Rama must do is to release the Kuksians." said Monika Kryemadhi.

Following the violent protests a few daysago which saw the tollbooths burned down, passage on the National Highway has returned to being free of charge.
