Rama Reveals OSCE Defects: Cooperation Is Failing Due To Lack Of Trust

6 months in the leadership of the OSCE have been enough for Edi Rama to make the diagnosis to this institution, which has repeatedly been critical of Albanian institutions.

In his speech as the head of the OSCE at the Annual Conference on Security Review, Rama criticized the cooperation of member states in this organization.

Rama: It's not that everything is going well at the OSCE.

Our cooperation is failing due to a lack of trust and trust is lacking due to the clear disregard for our commitments and this is affecting the foundations of common security.

I see a lack of will among member states to accept responsibilities for the situation or imagination to make a difference.

The crisis in Ukraine has not improved even with the intervention of the OSCE during the presidency of our country, but Rama wants to raise awareness of the conflicting parties by asking for a ceasefire.

Rama: Secondly, for the conflict that continues to take innocent lives and that is harming especially women and children.

I echo the call for a global ceasefire, to withdraw from hostilities, we must act in the spirit of solidarity.

We must remember, above all, that we are human beings. I call on the parties to assume their responsibilities by relying on the OSCE as a mediator.

A complete and comprehensive ceasefire is essential. We must put an end to civilian casualties.

Restrictions on the movement due to Covid-19 have also affected the work of the OSCE, but Prime Minister Rama demanded that the organization be left free to work.

Rama: In relation to COVID, the crisis has hit us all.

We need to reflect on the security effects as an organization.

The work of the mission is hampered, there must be secure access throughout Ukraine, additional restrictions due to pandemic to be removed, to be allowed to do its job.

During his speech, Rama underlined that the crisis in Ukraine is not the only one we are facing, but there are other countries such as Karabak, where the OSCE is also supporting the Geneva talks to reduce tensions and ensure dialogue.
