Osumi 'overtakaken' by waste, Berat: Solid and urban waste thrown under the new bridge

An unfortunate panorama, which has remained the same for years, has become a major concern for residents of Berat.

Although the residents are, in part, commonly responsible for the pollution, the situation requires immediate intervention from the Municipality.

Residents fear high temperatures may cause a proliferation in the spread of infectious diseases.

"Citizens do bear their own responsibility," said one resident.

In addition to urban waste near the shores of the Osumi River, inert waste is also deposited.

Due to the lack of attention from the municipality, residents often find a solution in burning their waste, even though this causes more significant pollution and the effect on the environment is even greater.
