For the first time in Albania, all buildings older than 50 years will be inspected to determine whether or not they present a risk for demolition.

The Head of the Institute of Construction, Agron Hysenlliu, states that the fate of each object will be decided upon after the evaluation of the situation.

Meanwhile, it will be the Municipalities who will make the final decision as to whether the buildings will be repaired or demolished. Currently, there is no data for the objects that were built more than 50 years ago.

Initially, inspections are thought to be started by institutions that have the most impact such as kindergartens and ministries.

The Albanian government has made this decision on the grounds that people's lives come first and after that, control measures will be taken to eliminate the problem presented by these objects.
