Lleshaj lists priorities

In the first meeting of this year with the leaders of the 12 districts, Interior Minister, Sandër Lleshaj listed two priorities that the "Ministry of Interior and the police" will focus on this year-- namely the fight against organized crime and road safety.

Lleshaj said 4 new police units are planned to be set up.

The fight against organized crime and road safety were set by Minister Lleshaj as priorities for the previous 2019 year.

During an analysis with the 12 Local Police Directorates and central leaders, Lleshaj declared that the package known as “KÇK” would be soon prepared.

"The police have a duty to go and knock on the door, tell them: - You have been in jail for 10 years for drug trafficking? Yes. You got this hotel here too. Now, the hotel is sequestered, surrounded by tape and you have to go to court and prove it's yours."

The interior minister has also warned of a tougher "road code" to prevent any more fatal accidents.

“Poor road safety kills more people than organized crime--5 times more.

What are we going to do? We're going to change the Road Code, toughen measures, tighten controls, modernize equipment, and fight hard for employee integrity.”

He added that in order to successfully deal with new developments and the phenomena of crime, 4 Special Units will be set up for the State Police with the best experts on hand.
