Journalists Against Media Law

Journalists and media representatives have opposed the so-called anti-defamation draft law in the parliamentary committee. Ylli Rakipi, inviting MPs to vote against the law, says the goal is an attempt to ban free speech.

Rakipi emphasizes that the media itself is regulated and this principle has acted sufficiently so far, and that changes to the law are unnecessary.

For two days in the Parliamentary Media Committee representing international institutions and interest groups have opposed the draft, stating that there can be no institution to control the media, while fines are considered as pressure to close media institutions.
