German MPS on reform, session in the German commission on European affairs

Justice Minister Etilda Gjonaj held a hearing with members of the German Parliament, led by Florian Hahn, as part of the Commission on European Affairs. 

It was during the second part of the meeting that the Albanian delegation responded to questions from German MPs. 

Among other things, the German Parliament members expressed interest in knowing about the progress of the Vetting process and how any vacancies created as a result of this process will be filled. 

They also asked about the reforms towards developing the rule of law, as well as the electoral reform. In response to the MPs questions, the Justice Minister introduced them to the initiative for legal changes which guarantees a number of candidates from the Magistrates' School to be admitted into the system for filling any vacancies created by the vetting process. 

The Minister of Justice reported that despite the slow start, the Vetting process is progressing at a satisfactory pace and that the priority list re-evaluation is anticipated to be completed sooner than expected. 

The Minister also noted that the reforms for justice, property issues, and improvement of public services are guaranteed to strengthen of the rule of law and the European path of Albania.
