Foreigners in Albania, asylum applications double, fewer kosovar tourists

2.3 million foreigners have entered Albania for tourism purposes during 2017. INSTAT Director, Delina Ibrahimaj, during an interview for Ora News, declared that this is a significant increase in foreign tourists compared with the previous year.

A noticeable shift in trend this year relates to the significant reduction in the number of Kosovars who have come for vacation, instead seeing a significant increase in Polish,Czechand Macedonian arrivals.

Many foreigners are also considering more than just a vacation in Albania. According to the INSTAT Director, interest in obtaining residence permits in Albania is also on the rise, with the highest number of applications coming from Italy and Turkey.

"The Italians and Turks have asked for more residence permits than any other nationalities." said Delina Ibrahimaj.

Albania has also experienced an increase in the number of asylum seekers applying to stay here, with mainly Syrians and Afghans choosing our country to escape the wars in their homelands.

"The number of asylum seekers who have come to Albania has doubled" declared Ibrahimaj.
