Electoral Reform, The Opposition With The Third Proposal For The CEC

The united opposition will submit a new proposal to the Central Election Commission.

The proposal essentially entitles the special parliamentary commission to direct the procedure for the election of CEC members.

Meanwhile, the extra-parliamentary opposition has been offered an earlier right to veto the special commission.

The selection is made in a parliamentary commission, where the opposition will have a representative of its own veto.

This representative elects 2 of the 5 members of the Regulator and 2 of the 5 members of the Sanctions Appeals Commission. The majority elects 3. Then the Assembly approves or dismisses the selected 5 in the block.

For the Commissioner, the SP elects 4 candidates, the Representative of the Political Opposition excludes 2 and the Assembly elects 1 of the 2 remaining.

The person with the right to veto will have the right to select names that have the support of the opposition.

The SP is requesting a meeting of the Political Council the next day

Earlier, majority representative Damian Gjiknuri requested a meeting of the Political Council's negotiating team on Wednesday (June 24th) at 17:00.

Gjiknuri has asked the Democratic Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration to bring written proposals on the mechanism for selecting members of the reformed CEC in a special parliamentary commission, as well as the transitional provision on how the united opposition will enter the system for the future parliamentary elections.
