Christmas celebrations, Christians celebrate birth of Christ

Christian believers have celebrated Christmas this Tuesday. The rites for their most important holiday, the Catholics in the capital, performed Mass at midnight at “Saint Paul” Cathedral. Meanwhile Orthodox believers addressed the Church early in the morning.

Christ was born!

The bells announcing his arrival and the hope for more peace and happiness gathered Christian believers in churches.

In Tirana, Catholics celebrated Christmas on the 25th anniversary of St. Paul's Cathedral. During the first Mass of the Feast the Archbishop of Metropolitan of Tirana and Durrës appealed for dialogue.

Bishop George Frendo said that violence and conflict can be avoided only through communication.

Orthodox believers in the capital came early in the morning to attend the Mass and perform the rites.

Prayers for more peace and love were also joined by Archbishop of Orthodox Church Anastas Janullatos.

Christmas is a celebration with Roman origin and is one of the most important celebrations on the Christian holiday calendar. Christ's birthday on December 25 is symbolic because it is thought to be not the exact date of his birth.
