CEC Rejects Complaints By Democratic Conviction

The Central Election Commission has overthrown the demand by the Democratic Conviction party, to announce the June 30 elections in Tirana and Shkodra as invalid, on the grounds that there was a lack of evidence.

Legal Representative of the Democratic Conviction Party, Fabian Topollaj, said that the Central Election Commission rejects transparency, while adding that the members of the Commissions of Electoral Administration Zones in Shkodra were in violation of the law, referring to specific names.

However, the Deputy Head of the Central Election Commission, Denar Biba, said the allegations are unfounded and, according to him, the complaints are only being raised in an attempt to put a stain on the process.

Debates were not lacking between the Chair of the Central Election Commission, Klement Zguri and his Deputy, Denar Biba.

Zguri said the denunciation remains a concern, especially given there seems to be a larger number of votes than voters, while referring to the decision by the CEC not to open boxes of election materials as 'meaningless'.

The Democratic Conviction party filed a total of 41 complaints in regards to the election, but thus far not one has been declared as valid.
