The Constitutional Court will hold a hearing tomorrow on the constitutionality of the vote of MP Etem Arifi for the appointment of the Hoti government.
The hearing is expected to start tomorrow (December 2, 2020) and will be conducted through an online meeting, due to the pandemic situation.
Vetëvendosje Movement will discuss tomorrow regarding the doubts about the regularity of the voting of the current Kosovo government. The parties responded positively to this call and did not request the adjournment of the hearing.
“The public hearing which will be held on December 2, 2020, starting at 10:00, will be attended by all stakeholders involved in the case. Due to the current situation with the Covid-19 pandemic, the public hearing will be held via video conference (online) and all preparations for its holding have already been made“, says the media office of the Constitutional Court.
Vetëvendosje Movement contested in June the vote of MP Etem Arifi, who is currently arrested. Albin Kurti’s party has expressed its conviction that this verdict will be in favor of VV, where according to them the annulment of Arifi’s vote will lead to the dismissal of Avdullah Hoti from the post of Prime Minister of Kosovo.
In this case, it will be up to the president to start the procedures, to give the mandate to any party or coalition that confirms that they have 61 votes in the Assembly of Kosovo.
Etem Arifi was one of 61 deputies who voted in favor of electing the Hoti government. For Vetëvendosje, the vote of the Ashkali Party MP is invalid due to the fact that he has been convicted of corruption.
