Orthodox Easter

Orthodox Easter

Orthodox believers across the country celebrated on Black Friday, a day which symbolizes the commemoration of the suffering of Jesus Christ and his death on the Cross.

Thousands of believers and visitors were part of the Korça Ceremony where 7 epitaphs were joined.

Under the sound of funeral music, they overtook the city's two main boulevards and then returned to the ‘Resurrection of Christ’ Cathedral.

There is also a re-entry of the passage under the Epitaph, which many believers associate with prayers for more health and prosperity.

Thousands of citizens who, despite holding religious beliefs, followed the ritual of extracting the epitaph in the streets of Berat.

Many other similar ceremonies were held nearby Orthodox churches around the country.

On Sunday, Orthodox believers are to celebrate the day of Christ's Resurrection
