Balkan peace endangered, Bushati: The region needs to co-operate, keep far from

According to Albania's Foreign Minister, the region is endangered by nationalist shrinkage and hate speech!

Ditmir Bushati, during the conference for the 60th anniversary of Albania in UNESCO, urged the Balkans to return to dialogue and to avoid confusion.

“It would be destructive to take things for granted.

“The growing populist rhetoric in developed societies, the increase in hate speech and disunity, the pressure on multilateralism and national shrinking tendencies create a call for increased vigilance.

“These impose the need for a renewed, clearer, more demanding and more efficient cooperation.

“Engagement, will and skills of the young generation will be decisive for both Albania and our European path, but also to build a region that is ultimately living in peace and prosperity,” declared Ditmir Bushati.

Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati insisted on Kosovo's membership in international organizations as one of the foundations of stability in the region.

“We have supported, and will continue to support, Kosovo's accession to international organizations, including UNESCO, as a real investment for Kosovo's citizens and for strengthening regional cooperation,” added Bushati.

Butrinti, Berati, Gjirokastra, Isopolifonia, the Purple Codices of Berat, Rrajca's ancient beech forests and Prespa biosphere reserve are already part of the cultural and natural postcards of our country.

Lake Ohrid is expected to join the World Heritage club next year, as a mixed cultural and natural heritage site.
